Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System Review

I found out about this particular coffee maker when a friend of mine received it as a gift.  I watched her used it and thought to myself “now there is a great idea!”.  Then suddenly everyone I knew had one!  So I had to do my research and find out what the big deal was! 

Most people are fond of drinking coffee, tea, & hot cocoa.  While I’m not a big coffee drinker, I do like to have an occasional cup of tea as well as hot cocoa on those cold winter evenings.  And I do like to be able to offer guests to my house a delicious cup of coffee.  However, brewing these wonderful drinks can be time-consuming and alot of times you don’t want to brew a whole pot!  The answer to this is to buy a coffee pot maker that brews in a shorter amount of time and exactly the amount you want.

Out of all the home brewing systems available in the market, the Keurig B60 Special Edition gourmet single cup home brewing system is the most popular one cup coffee maker that is out on the market.  At least, for me it is…and you’ll find out why as you keep reading.

Keurig B60 Special Edition Coffee Maker Review

This Keurig  B60 boasts a 1500-watt brewing system that can be used to brew gourmet coffee, tea, or cocoa. There is no hassle in cleaning as this uses the patented K-cups, so there are no more annoying filters to deal with! It has a removable water reservoir of 48-ounces and a drip tray that is removable.  It offers three different brew sizes and it automatically shuts off in 2 hours.  It also has a descale indicator (you can read about descaling here if you are curious).  It does need 4 minutes of priming before being able to be used, and its compact size makes it suitable for a small counter space.

Of course it’s famous for using the patented K-Cups so you don’t have to mess with grinding beans and filters.  But it’s important to note that if you do want to use your own grounds, you can in fact buy a filter and brew coffee with your own ground up beans.

This durable machine has a heating mechanism and pumping mechanisms is really amazing as well. The K-cups make clean up easy and quick, which is personally my favorite part about this appliance.  And as stated earlier, you can also brew tea as well, so the whole family as well as guests can have their favorite hot beverage…some enjoying their tea while others enjoy a great cup of coffee, and all from the same brewer!

Also of note – the Keurig B60 does not work solely as a coffee maker – it can heat water in less than 20 seconds.  The kettle can be done away with because of the Keurig B60.

In addition to the superb features of Keurig B60, the customer service of Keurig is great with Keurig operators who are always ready 24 hours a day,7 days a week.  If I’ve read one overwhelming agreement from reviews all over the internet, they all seem to agree that the customer service for Keurig is outstanding. Why is the Keurig B60 Special Edition the best among other Keurigs

The Keurig B60 allows brewing of three different sizes – 5.25, 7.25, and 9.25 oz.  The nice thing about the B60 that is the step-up from the older models is the very attractive blue LED and a handle made of polished chrome and also the outer-ring is made of polished chrome as well, all on display to see.  It makes any kitchen look classy and very modern.

Keurig B60 VS B70

This is a good time to mention that there is a newer model available as well, which is the B70.  It is very similar to the B60 except for a few different features.  The B70 has 5 brewing sizes and can do iced coffee as well.  The sizes are 3.25, 5.25, 7.25, 9.25, and 11.25 oz.  And it also has larger water reservoir (60 oz instead of 48).

For me, I don’t need the larger brew of 11.25 oz and I don’t drink iced coffee.  However, there is a way to drink iced tea and iced coffee with the B60 with special K Cups made by Green Mountain.  Check out the video here:

Some people do prefer the 11.25 capability because they use very large travel mugs.  So if those two features are important for you, then you might want to consider the B70 model.  It is just as good as the B60, but be aware it does cost about $20 – $30 more.   When the B70 first came out, there were alot of problems with the heating element and many customers had to replace theirs.  However Keurig seems to have fixed that issue.  But like I said for me and I think for most people the B60 is where it’s at!

What are the Drawbacks?

The K-cups can sometimes be difficult to find at retail locally, and expensive when you do find them, but your best bet is to buy them at Amazon of course.  The Donut Shop “Coffee People” K cups are one of my favorites and very affordable.  You have to try them!

Some reviews that I read did complain that their Keurig stopped working shortly after they received it.  Those reviews were far and few between, and like I said earlier the customer service team at Keurig quickly ships out new ones for any malfunctioning units.

It’s Simple – The Keurig B60 Coffee Maker is Awesome!
